Lauren Walker
I’m Lauren Walker, an Associate at JBL. I joined JBL seven years ago as a File Administrator and have since progressed through several roles: from Paralegal to Trainee Solicitor to now an Associate within the Technical & Complex team. In my current role, I manage a caseload of complex, often litigated, matters and lead a small team of Paralegals. Day-to-day, to name a few of my responsibilities, I support the team in meeting Tribunal and Court deadlines, prepare and file applications or statements of case, and advise clients through both written advice and conference calls. I am also lucky enough to be involved in the delivery of training and learning materials both internally and for clients.
One of the standout things about JBL is the number of inspiring women both in leadership positions and in all other areas across the firm. It’s great to work alongside such talented and driven professionals. I hope to encourage others on their own career journeys, just as my mentors and supervisors have done for me.
Women’s Equality Day is an opportunity to reflect on how far the legal profession has come. What was once a male-dominated field has transformed and, according to the statistics put out by the Solicitors Regulation Authority earlier this year, the proportion of women in law firms is now 53%. As a woman solicitor in 2025, I feel seen and respected as an equal. It’s a reminder of the progress made, and the importance of continuing to support and uplift each other.
